Our Story
Wounded Bear Presa Canarios is a family run, small kennel located in St Charles County, Missouri. We specialize in producing Presas of sound body and mind. All of our dogs are raised in our home, with our family.
Our dogs compete in many sport venues and are socialized specifically to be stable family companions whom have the capabilities of success in many arenas.
We have been very fortunate to have great mentors in Cabeza Grande Kennels which has allowed us to be able to start out with such quality dogs.
We have been in the dog world our whole lives and have been a part of various dog communities during that time. Growing up our family started in field trails with labradors. From there we moved into rescue with bull breeds and rare mastiffs for many years. During that time becoming active in competing in dock dogs, barn hunt, scent work, lure coursing and obedience, joining the Presa Canario community in 2012.
Since joining the Presa community, we have raised some of the top UKC conformation Presa Canarios in the country. We have also obtained lure coursing, scent work, barn hunt and temperament titles with our dogs. We are an active family who involves our dogs in everything we do. Because of this, we strive to produce dogs who are of stable temperament and body to be able to be loved family guardians.
All litters produced from Wounded Bear will be socialized with our family, started on early sensory and scent programs in order to set our puppies up for great success. We have made early socialization our top priority for our dogs. We have done many years of research on animal learning and proper puppy socialization to help set up the building blocks for happy, healthy puppies. We realize that not all socialization is created equal but we are here to optimize our dogs' genetics to be the best dogs they can be. Sound temperament is out number one priority.
Breedings will be minimal but of high quality here at Wounded Bear. All breedings will be off health tested, titled parents. Most will have obtained conformation titles as well as actively working towards some working title (lure coursing, barn hunt, scent work, dock dogs etc).
